In this Month’s Did You Know: KanCare, Insurance Enrollment Approval Delays, New Category III CME Opioid Requirements
KDHE is accepting RFPs for the KanCare products in 2023. The final decision on these Medicaid MCOs through KanCare will be announced in late 2023 for 2024. Healthy Blue through BCBS has submitted an RFP.
Insurance plans are feeling the pressure of the current labor market. This is creating a challenge in hiring the talent needed to process insurance enrollment applications. MPR has seen significant delays in enrollment approvals. BCBS has a significant backlog and is running 90 days from the time they start the application for approval of network participation. Other companies are as long as 120 days for approval from the time MPR submits the application.
MPR can process insurance enrollment applications in an efficient manner if all documents requested are submitted to us in a timely manner. As a reminder, we cannot submit insurance enrollment applications to insurance companies without an active license and certificate of insurance.
Reminder: The Kansas Board of Healing Arts has a NEW Category III CME opioid requirement for physicians and physician assistants. These provider types must complete at least one (1) CME activity every year. If you have not met this requirement, see the links below to attend an online conference for physicians and physician assistants.
