The Kansas Hospital Association (KHA) is working with several area hospitals and Medical Provider Resources (MPR) to develop a task force to centralize the credentialing process for the Provider Enrollment process with the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) within Kansas. The KanCare plans (Aetna Better Health, United Health Care, and Sunflower) will be the initial focus.
Several states have developed a centralized process:
- Oregon has a common form since 2000 mandated by hospitals and health plans.
- Georgia has a centralized process for Medicaid credentialing since 2015.
- Texas Medicaid MCOs implemented in April 2018, a new NCQA certified CVO that will be responsible for performing Primary Source Verification (PSV) for all newly credentialing and Re-credentialing Medicaid providers currently enrolled or seeking participation in Texas Medicaid.
- North Carolina has contracted with Optum to implement a new provider data management/CVO solution, scheduled to launch in 2024.
- Mississippi will have a centralized hub for credentialing for Medicaid-related benefit programs once the implementation period ends on June 30, 2023.
MPR is excited to be included in this discussion and we look forward to helping credentialing documents and provider source credentialing become easier in our state!
