Did You Know About Operation Nightingale 2023?
What is Operation Nightingale? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Officer of Inspector General launched a multi-state investigation on January 25, 2023, charging people selling fraudulent nursing degree diplomas and transcripts.
- Initially, 25 individuals were being prosecuted for their involvement in the scheme.
- Dozens of defendants were indicted for their alleged participation that permitted illegal licensing and employment for aspiring nurses who have pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy.
- The diplomas and transcripts were obtained from a nursing school established in Florida that is now closed.
- Over 7,600 nursing diplomas and transcripts were sold to people who wanted to work as nurses.
- Each student paid $15,000 for the documents.
